Downtown Denver has been designed as a “Best Workplaces for Commuters District.” This award is a joint effort by the U.S. Environmental Protection agency and U.S. Department of Transportation.
The program is designed to reduce traffic congestion and traffic related air pollution. The 16th Street Mall Shuttle, the free bus service is one of the main reasons the city received the award.
Downtown Denver is the 20th such district in the U.S. to receive the designation.
