If the Walls Could Talk…

Have you ever wished the walls could speak?  If the walls could talk, wonder what tales they would tell?  I came across this now abandoned structure in the Cripple Creek area today.  It looks like some sort of a railroad car, turned into something else, maybe a restaurant?  Or could it be a home?

Every home has a history.  Once a home I lived in had a horse in it.  Yes, a horse in the house.  The neighbors enjoyed telling me how the previous owners had brought in their horse, it broke the stairs and they fixed it.  Now that is something I never would have imaged!  When I purchased it, the house was pretty nice.  Guess the previous owners were into being super nice to their four-legged friend.

Is there a moral to this story?  When wondering about a  neighborhood or a specific house, talk to the neighbors.  They will tell you.  Of course you may not like what you hear.

Were the previous owners “Broncos” fans…it would explain the horse.

Ironically, all my homes have been new, but I found that my families homes in the UK all had history you could feel…some of them that pre-dated Colonial America.

    Michael,
Not sure about the Bronco fans, but considering the house was in Colorado that is a safe bet!

I grew up in a home built prior to the Revolutionary War in New Jersey. The Abstract was fun to read, it went back to being deeded from the King of England. I forget the year. I cried when I learned my Mom threw it out! She thought it was junk!

Yeah it looks a little like a place I lived in one winter in Wyoming. The skiing was great so the accommodations didn’t need to be nice.

When I see old log homes, homesteads and broken down barns in Colorado I always try to imagine who lived there and what a normal day was like way back then.

It looks like it could have been a diner? But what is the big tank behind the home?
