Colorado gardens come in all sizes and shapes. Homeowners from suburbia to the urban neighborhoods of Denver are finding creative ways to cultivate the art of gardening. No longer are gardens limited to a slice of dirt in the backyard. Gardeners are using pots, wheelbarrows, railroad ties, stair trusses, you name it as planters!
Many gardens have gone vertical, using airspace with a minimal footprint. This makes good sense when there’s plenty of vertical available and not much ground space! I also like the idea of not having to bend over! It’s so much easier on the knees and back!
Herbs of a Fence
I took this picture at Denver Zoo where they are displaying wonderful options for gardening in vertical containers.
Tierd Garden made from stair risers
It is easy to see how appealing these containers can be to gardeners who don’t have lots of room but are craving a little digging in the dirt!
What sort of creative gardens are you seeing?

I think the tier garden idea is so creative and makes great use of space if you have a small yard. I was thinking of doing something like that for an herb garden. Thanks for sharing!
