Tell me they are sleeping!

Rattle Snake Hill

We gained an hour today, or at least seemingly so. Larry and I headed up to an area above Lone Tree that I’ve been eyeing for a hike. It was a beautiful day and we had all this EXTRA time! OK so it’s only an hour but it felt like more.

Bluffs Regional Park is found by following Yosemite to the very end. Park your car and pick a trail, either way you go takes you on a 2.7 mile loop high above the City of Lone Tree. The terrain is rolling hills with an expansive view as far as the eye can see.

Many have found this trail long before we did, it was very well used by joggers and walkers alike. Almost everyone had a dog or two or three!

The temperature was perfect today as was the air. We enjoyed seeing the backside of Heritage Hills and the views of Highlands Ranch all the way to Roxborough. In fact if you look at the photo below you can see Lockheed Martin nestled in the foothills. Of course I used the telephoto on my little Panasonic Lumix with 12x zoom. The mountains are actually about 15 miles away, but with the zoom they look very close. Tricky isn’t it?

We also got to look down into the backyards of the McArthur Ranch neighborhood. Typically hidden from view, this area is just south of the Wildcat Ridge community and mostly situated well above everything. We loved the way one homeowner brought his hobby home. Note the backyard with a tee, putting green and sand trap. Undoubtedly this homeowner has an awesome short game…

Our stroll was most pleasurable.  Never once did we question why we hadn’t taken this walk before, the trail is within 1/2  mile from the house!  Oh well now we know where the Bluffs Regional Park is, I’m sure will come back for more.

P.S. Please don’t wake the rattle snakes.  They are still on Daylight savings time!
