Education in Denver Metro
One of Aurora’s greatest assets as a business location is the high level of education of its citizens. Denver ranks second among all major cities in the United States in the median number of school years completed by its citizens. This factor is an indicator to business that a highly skilled and very talented labor force exists in the area.
Although the quality of education is difficult to measure, Colorado students have demonstrated their achievements by traditionally scoring very high on college entrance exams. In Colorado, the primary test is the American College Test (ACT). In 1993, Colorado students averaged 21.3 on this test compared to the national average of only 20.7.
The Denver area also contains rich and varied resources in higher education, including world-class research institutions, graduate and professional schools, and a broad spectrum of undergraduate programs. Many of the area’s colleges and universities also offer non traditional or adult education programs including evening and weekend part-time tracks for those seeking degrees.
