Denver Botanical Gardens
Denver is very fortunate to have a botanical showcase located in the center of the city on 23 acres. The Botanical gardens are a showcase of endless varieties of plants, flowers and garden styles. Visiting the gardens in any time of the year is inspiring. Most varieties are beyond the ordinary citizen to cultivate, so for the ordinary person like me, it does my heart good to take a field trip, using my imagination to visualize what my own back yard could look like…if had dozens of staff, volunteers and endless hours to tenderly love the ground.
The Denver Botanic Gardens also owns and operates two additional locations; Chatfield Nature Preserve, consists of 700 acres of native plants and wildlife, grasslands and wetland ponds. This location also has two historic 19th century farms.
M. Walter Pesman Trail, Mt. Goliath Denver Botanic Gardens maintains a high altitude trail and interpretive site featuring alpine wildflowers. It is located 55 miles west of Denver on the Mt. Evans Scenic Byway.
